1982

Deep in the woods of Virginia, a little girl runs for her life, trying to hide from her "teachers." The teachers work for a "school for the gifted," which is really a harsh, life threatening, bone-crushing year round magic camp. She trips on a tree root, falls onto her hands and knees, but quickly gets up to run again. She could hear the teachers' voices were getting closer now that she had just fallen. She tries to run faster, but couldn't because of the school's high demands for the students.

Trees blurred together as the little girl ran, but she knew that the trees only blurred together because of the teachers had the ability to mess with others' minds once they got close enough to them. She just knew that she had try to get away, yet there was no escape now.

She recalls her first day of school, all the staff were kind to her and other new students like her. They were told to stay in the first hallway for the first week until they got used to being there. Then after that, the "training" started. There were seven classes: four basic classes consisting of math, English, science, and history. But her last three classes were not what she expected at first; they were: field training (with the powers that she discovered over the years), reflex class (to test her physical and mental abilities), and, for her, martial arts.

Every teacher asked the students what they liked most, such as their favorite mythical creatures or what abilities that they wanted. The little girl didn't know why they were asked such questions until the second week of school where they started the hard training with the powers she gained.

This all started in September, but now it's April 10th, her birthday, she was turning 12 today. Her wish was to run away from the school to see her parents again. The first half of the wish came true, but because of it she was running for her life to find a road that will get her on a ride away with someone who is willing to help her. Someone to help her get back to her parents.

Her running was stopped short as she came across a river. That's when she made a mistake; she looked back to judge the distance between herself and the teachers. One was lunging at her with his four-foot-long blade, stabbing her in the stomach. She grabbed the sword, feeling the cold metal under her callused hands.

As he stood over her with the blade in her, the teacher pulled her closer, saying, "You get what you deserve, running away will ruin the school's safety." Then he pushed her down off his blade as the other teachers showed up behind him. He said, "She has been terminated. The wild animals will finish her body. Let's go.” She only had enough time to pull herself onto a rock before everything went black.
-------
She opened her ghostly eyes and saw her dead body lying on the rock that she just laid herself upon. She began to weep ghostly tears. She heard a rustling noise behind a tree. Looking up, a large wolf come out. She tried to scare the beast away, but it just looked at her, then to the body. It walked over to the it, putting its nose on the cut on abdomen where the blade cut, and walked around to grab the shirt collar and began to pull the body into the river.

As the ghost girl watched, the wolf dragged her body to other side river and back. As she watched, there was a trail of blood flowing through the water, but the blood began to return to the body as the wolf pulled her to exact spot where she lay upon the rock. He then put his great big right paw over the cut and pressed down, causing a glow to come from it. The glowing stopped, along with the ghost girl's vision once more.

Moments later, the little girl opened her eyes for the second time, with the realization of coldness and hunger. Sitting up, she saw the wolf that had brought her back to life, staring at her.

He sat down near her and began to change form into boy. Once he finished transforming, with a wolf cloak and lion clothe around his body, he said, "My mother saw what happened and told me to help you. You're safe now, so have no fear of those men. Come with me and I will protect you." They got up and left the death place of her old life and birthplace of her new life with the wolf boy.

Hey.:)
Got finally time to read it.
I have to be honest with you...all this magic and fantasy theme isn´t my cup of tea exactly...but I like your writing style, nice and neat.
"She was running her life to find a road that will get her on side, away with someone who is willing to help her," - liked that, reminds me that we should never give up, there will be more and better opportunities in life, and we just can´t wait when they will happen to us, we need to take actions towards our dreams.:)
The middle part got a little scary...all those teachers with swords...but I´m happy that the main character survived it.
Liked the wolf in the story, reminds me how important relationships in our life are, and we should always keep our friends close.:)
